Seller Description For This Firearm

Rare Surplus Last Ditch Steyr bnz 45 VK-98 Voksgewehr 8mm Mauser

Offered is a surplus Steyr "bnz 45" VK-98 Volksgewehr chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm), a scarce late-war rifle produced during the final months of World War II. Manufactured at the Steyr-Daimler-Puch facility and marked with the "bnz 45" factory code, these rifles represent Germany's emergency wartime production efforts as resources and manufacturing capacity became increasingly limited.

The Volksgewehr ("People's Rifle") series was designed to simplify production while providing a functional infantry rifle for home defense and reserve forces. As a result, the VK-98 exhibits many characteristic "last ditch" features, including simplified machining, utilitarian finishes, and expedient manufacturing methods that reflect the realities of late-war arms production.

Chambered in the standard 8mm Mauser cartridge, the VK-98 utilizes a manually operated bolt action derived from the Mauser system. Its distinctive design, limited production, and historical significance make it a highly desirable addition to advanced World War II military firearm collections.

This surplus example offers collectors an opportunity to own a rare artifact from the closing chapter of the Second World War. The rifle's late-war manufacturing characteristics and historical context make it an especially interesting piece for enthusiasts of German military arms and wartime production history.

WE SUPPORT LOCAL GUN STORES

Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community.  Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state.  At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible.  That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.

WE KEEP IT SIMPLE
WE KEEP IT SIMPLE

Most everything can be easily bought online these days.  But for some reason, buying a gun online can be complicated.  Most websites are poorly organized, don’t tell you a lot about what you’re buying, and leave you on your own to figure out what you want.  Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice.  Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
